Lately I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos! I have to admit they can be better than television! Of course you have to put up with all the nuts that infiltrate YouTube with their comments. I really do think many of these people have no lives as I see many of the same people writing comments one after the other…..on many videos! It’s a weird, weird world. I have one friend who uses it as a way to communicate with his friends….which is cool. He attracts no nuts! No crazy people are interested in writing contests or happy holiday vids.

Why do these creeps get a mouth piece. That’s the other negative thing about Youtube is all the screwed up people getting their opinion out and expressing it badly. Another negative thing is the small group of people who post videos on racism, violence or other stupid activities. There was an incident last year where this American kid and his friend (or brother) were abusing this poor cat. The stupid ass posted it on YouTube, but got in trouble because people don’t take kindly to that activity.

The bottom video is an interview of an extremist who has no clue about how to do things around the world, except violently! The reason I posted this is not to glorify Beck but to show what psycho morons are out there and the intelligent sane people that make funny comments to make these whack jobs look even more stupid. Medieval Festival-Cremieu, France

Medieval Fest(Sept12th2009)-Cremieu, France

This was a day I awaited since moving to France…..going to a medieval festival in a “real” medieval village(The town was mentioned in 11th century)! I have gone to Renaissance Fairs in San Diego and loved them, but there is something special when your scenery is authentic too!

We went to Cremieu around noon, and stayed 7 hours! I only planned staying 2 hours! We walked around the town, taking photos of various displays. We then walked in this area where they were serving crêpes. I insisted buying three for all of us. Chocolate crêpes! I even ordered in French, which I am still not totally comfortable with. I don’t like the way I pronounce words! I will eventually get over it…..confidence is what I need

We then walked up the narrow streets to look at all the stands selling merchandise and food that is suppose to be relevant to this festival; wine from authentic recipes, bakery goods, leather goods, swords, clothing and the like.

Then, all of a sudden we notice people in a single line walking through the town in a procession like manner. We came to this town the right time! Norbert was kneeling down beside me while I stood taking loads of photos! His daughter was near us taking photos as well. It was an impressive display of authenticity!! The clothes, music, dancing and small army all strolling by! It was a long procession!

After that we walked through the streets and observed the people! We then went on our way to this large field where a bird show and later some games were going to be played. We took our spot early, and a good thing as the field space filled up pretty quick. Even though it was a cloudy day the sun coming through the clouds was pretty hot! The bird show was pretty good, it was all birds of prey! They would have the birds fly across the audience real low! The American Bald Eagle flew over my head pretty low….I felt him! Very impressive bird. There was an owl, but he didn’t do anything except look pretty. After the show, we walked through the city….again!




















We basically walked around the town in a long circle. We did stop and watched a band play medieval music, they were good! We did want to try some wine, but the people at the stand seemed deeply involved in something else. Norbert had no patience for this so we left and started back to the field. As we walked I took photos of people, scenery, and the various stands in our path. We then walked along the way toward the field. I said “get a place up front!” We sat down, for the first 20 minutes the bird show started “again!” After the bird show was the “games!” The colourful pageantry before the games was very nice! I love what the “knights” were wearing and the horses were dressed up colourfully as well. The first games were on horseback and it required the player to spear this object with a jousting lance(another was to spear and apple with the same jousting lance on a stump). Basically the show featured riders on horseback attempting various feats of skill with the lance.

Besides the games and competition on horseback, there was also something similar to wrestling being played out! Two guys have one weighted bag each, and the purpose of this game is to hit your opponent till you push him of the platform. It was funny to watch!







After the games we went back home. By the end of the day I took 583 photos!

The Right Wing Hillbilly from Tennessee!

How can I explain about this one! Well first I belong to a photo group on Facebook….actually I belong to quite a few photo groups. I love photography and I like meeting people of similar interests. So this is where my story begins… I was in one group and I was adding a few people as contacts on FB. One of these contacts happens to be this Right Wing Christian woman from Tennessee. I will say this situation taught me something, “just because someone in artiistic doesn’t mean they will be normal and sane.” Also, I wish FB would let people view other people’s profile before you add, because after adding and looking at her profile it was completely opposite of me. This woman is pompous about her religion and imposing her beliefs on others. Example, she “hopes the little Muslim child her daughter (I think) is teaching will follow Jesus Christ and Christianity!” What arrogance! Among other things she belongs to a group called “We are not a Muslim Nation!!!” That alone tells me something is not right with this woman. Anyway the annoyance started with a post of mine. I will refer to this woman as LA!

Wow, I need to look into that with my companion!! Actually France enjoy 11 national holidays... The civic calendar was first instituted in 1582; Bastille Day was incorporated in 1789, Armistice Day in 1918, Labor Day in 1935, and Victory Day in 1945. During the month of May, there is a holiday nearly every week. I have lived in France since December and I know a little bit of its culture! I used to live in Ireland! This was my first introduction into European way of life. When you are full time worker in Ireland, 10% of your pay goes to vacation days and vacation pay. If you work Sundays, all workers get time and a half plus one vacation day! I used to accumulate lots of day/pay quickly. My average vacation weeks averaged between 4-5 weeks every year! The attitude with employers (and law) is to make the people happy. Work is a part of our lives but it shouldn't keep us from enjoying life either. Many EU countries are like this. :) Also, the French have an average of 5 weeks holiday through their work.....depending on company.

Whoa...thats a lot of holidays. I heard the holiday trivia on some Saturday talk show....they said something like 361 holidays and really heehawed about it. I say...don't knock it until you try it...right? My father's family is traced all the way back to France. Can't tell you right off ...the name is in the Familytreemaker files. Took me two years of research. Went back to the late 1500's. Some of my relatives are part of the "King's Daughters" sent over to Canada to marry the military men there.

Hehe....I don't know any country with 361 holidays! When do they work...because a year holds 365 days! Hmmm.... I wouldn't take that talk show too seriously. Far as holidays go, it's a European thing, because it not only applies to France but all of the EU states. Okay, maybe not Eastern Europe....yet. That's a pretty cool thing...looking into your genealogy!! I have been researching my family background as well. I put a notice up on some site and got contacted after 5 years my notice was up. I found out I have cousins I never knew about!!

The fact that she took the post personal made me think that this person is suffering from deep depressing (later on I was correct about my assumption of this). The positive thing the post struck a nerve, that is what it’s suppose to do and this hillbilly took it wrong!

His failure which is based on incompetence, deceit, cruelty, arrogance, greed, and the reckless disregard for consequence should never be allowed to bask in the false glow of accomplishment. No President deserves more scorn than this man. America should rightfully be ashamed of him and themselves. He should never have been elected. We still have to deal with the "drunken driving" of both the electorate and the elected. Our country is too precious, and, yes, too fragile to trust with ignorant wannabees who imagine their entitlement to power is based on the blindness of their vision and the backwardness of their direction.Justice requires we scrutinize the deeds of the Bush Administration and clean out the tyranny. They are all merely citizens and must be held to the standards established by the law, not by themselves.

Actually no I wont! I haven't lived in the US for 5 years and quite happy with that! I wanted to leave for a very long time! To be quite honest with you I have felt more freedom than I ever felt in my life!The fact your telling me that I am wrong is just typical! Your right and everyone else is wrong! Everyone has a problem if they are opposite ends. Everyone has a right to an opinion! You don't have to agree with it but you don't have to get hostile! Dark past....hmm, I think there are other leaders that fit this category


What is the case of Americans using “drank the kool aid” excuse! Is this a new thing to try and escape an intense conversation? Or conversation period? Now you got droves of Americans on the internet (and public) using this idiotic “term!” What happen to intelligent dialogue? Drink the kool aid, how about “kiss my ass!”

The Paranoid Photographer from Flickr

I got a Flickr mail from a “paranoid” woman I will call SW from North Park-San Diego. Now for the record I am not one to post emails or any other “personal” communication, but the week I got these emails and posts was interesting and annoying! What’s interesting these women (yes, all were women and American)are suffering (I think) from depressing or they have anti social behaviour, because why would you send strange, hostile, crazy vile letters to someone you don’t know or ever met! The answer; they hide behind a computer! If it was a situation where I was face to face with these “people” it would be a different situation. Actually one of them I think would attack a person on the street because she is completely idiotic and psychotic. The email titled “favourites” was the beginning, I even sent her a “nice” response back. This of course was my last “nice, civil” response! By the way, anyone who has an account with Flickr knows you comment, favourite photos and invite people to groups.

I just like your photos....I think they are interesting, and that is why I comment and save as favs.

I visited with my companion to the US in May to see my sister get married. Anyhoo, I took loads of photos while I was there.....like a tourist! Yes, I live in France....I lived in Europe as a whole for almost 5 years.

The response I really wanted to give is this; If you are paranoid about someone stealing your photos, don’t put them on a public site where the whole world can see them! You can use a privacy filter on Flickr….use it! What does living in France, moving or visiting have anything to do with it? Don’t send letters that scream of paranoia and of someone who doesn’t get out much! Besides give me a break, I don’t need to steal your photos I have my own! Thank you!

The funny thing is she says, “You say you're living in France?” Hmm, she must of looked at my profile, because I am sure I never spoke to this person. How about this, “I looked at your profile and notice you live in France.” Okay, that sounds less paranoid!!

Lavender Crème Brûlée

Serves 6

350ml double cream
140ml whole milk
4 heads of fresh lavender flowers or 3 tbsp dried lavender flowers
6 large free-range egg yolks
75g caster sugar, plus 2 tbsp to finish
Few drops of vanilla extract
Icing sugar, to dust

1) Pour the cream and milk into a saucepan and add the lavender. Slowly heat to just below boiling point. Remove from the heat and leave to infuse for 1 hour. Stand 6 x 150ml ramekins or similar ovenproof dishe(s) in a small roasting tray.

2) Preheat the oven to 140C/Gas 1.
Strain the cream mixture and discard the lavender. Return to a clean pan and reheat. Meanwhile, beat the egg yolks, sugar and vanilla extract together in a bowl with a wooden spoon until evenly blended.

3) Trickle the hot, creamy milk onto the egg mixture, beating constantly, until well combined. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a large jug, then pour into the ramekins(or dish). Put water from a recently boiled kettle into the roasting tray to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins(or dish).

4) Bake for about 25 minutes until the custards are lightly set. To test, gently shake a ramekin(dish) – the custard should be set on the outside with a slightly wobbly centre. Remove the ramekins(dish) from the tray; cool completely. Chill until ready to serve.

5) For the brûlée topping, sprinkle 1 tsp of sugar evenly on top of each custard, then wave a cook’s blowtorch over the surface until the sugar has caramelised. If you don’t have a blowtorch, briefly place the brûlée(s) under a hot grill to caramelise. Don’t overheat or the custard may start to melt.

This was a better day than Saturday! We got a late start today! We took a shower, ate some breakfast and got ready.
First we decided to walk over to the local farmer's market. This market is open every Sunday.....regardless of weather! I had some money so I decided to buy. We have had some money troubles, so today I had more money!












We strolled through the busy aisles deciding where and what to buy. Firstly I bought hair clips and hand wash for a total of 2 euros (sorry, I cannot find the euro sign on this keyboard)!Then we bought from variety of stands; onions, eggplant, cilantro, parsley, potatoes, garlic, pepper's, bread and hamburger meat. Oh yes, we bought this "special" approved Muslim burger sauce. It was the only expensive thing we bought.


We then walked over to a market (because major grocery stores are closed on Sunday) and bought icecream, cinnamon, cumin, soda, ketchup and buns. We went home and cooked our hamburgers! Before that we put finely chopped onions, garlic salt and pepper in the meat and mixed it up good. The burgers were good....even with the special sauce!
We then gathered our cameras and the dog and went on our way.

Lyon has big and lovely parks throughout the city and surrounding area. This park boasts large lakes, golf course and plenty of areas for BBQ's.


Norbert and I took Onyx for a swim while his daughter went flying her kite. Onyx is a Newfoundland who loves water and winter! It's part of their environment! :) I took many photos! We then went and hung around this huge area where people fly there kites. It was a good and relaxing day!
